ProCurve Networking by HP Takes Market Leader Position in Finland While Recording Significant Market Growth Throughout Rest of Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Grenoble, FRANCE - December 13, 2005 - ProCurve Networking by HP continues to gain market share as the networking business today announced significant sequential quarterly market growth in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, based on third quarter, 2005 figures recently released by market research and analyst firm, International Data Corp. (IDC).

Having already established itself as the clear number-two EMEA networking vendor in managed ports shipments over the second quarter of 2005, ProCurve's overall market share measured in port shipments in the region has increased, from 12 per cent in the second quarter of 2005 to 12.5 per cent in the third quarter of this year. ProCurve Networking recorded particularly strong growth in the strategically important Layer 3 managed ports segment.

In addition, these IDC figures reveal that ProCurve Networking has increased its EMEA market share in the managed LAN switch segment. In this segment, ProCurve Networking market share, measured in port shipments, increased from 15.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2005 to 16.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2005.

On a country level, ProCurve has overtaken Cisco Systems, Inc., in Finland to become the number-one networking vendor in that country in terms of total ports shipped, with a market share that is 9.5 percentage points more than Cisco. ProCurve now has a very strong 47.5 per cent market share in Finland in terms of managed ports shipments. In addition, ProCurve continues to experience significant market growth in numerous other countries throughout the region, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and Turkey.

"This latest IDC report is confirmation that customers are choosing to invest in ProCurve Networking rather than in competitive alternatives," said Wenceslao Lada, vice president and general manager, ProCurve Networking by HP. "In such a competitive market what is most pleasing is that ProCurve's overall market share is growing at a time when some of our strongest competitors are losing market share around the region."

Lada added: "This continued growth can be attributed to the competitive advantage that ProCurve's Adaptive EDGE ArchitectureTstrategy provides our customers with, and our commitment to providing reliable and scalable high-performance networking solutions that offer a low overall cost of ownership as well as an excellent return on investment."
