ProCurve ties together  Disaster Proof demonstration

In May 2007, a team from HP blew up more than $1 million in equipment with 70 pounds of C4 explosives to prove a point – that HP can protect your organization's critical information assets in a disaster. ProCurve switches tied together HP's disaster proof solutions, which failed over flawlessly. Kell van Daal, an engineer for ProCurve, was there to witness HP's big bang. Watch the video, then read Kell's account of how we did it.

ProCurve engineer has blast exploding gear in Arkansas

Kell van Daal

"We finally found a way to make a ProCurve product fail. All it takes is 70 pounds of C4."

– Kell van Daal, ProCurve engineer

When HP put together a team to show how its disaster-tolerant solutions can protect your information assets, ProCurve switches connected the systems. We asked Kell van Daal, a native of The Netherlands, to write a first-person account of blowing up equipment in Arkansas. He said it was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” to watch everything fail over perfectly.
